STEMGuyana’s learning pods program was presented with 5 laptop computers from the co-founder of US based company jewelbots.com, Ms. Sara Chipps. New York based Guyanese, Mr Shawn Mcdonald was responsible for introducing Ms Chipps to STEMGuyana’s US Ambassador, Ms Renita Tyler, who shared STEMGuyana’s mission and accomplishments in Guyana. In an invited comment, Sara Chipps noted that, “after hearing about STEMGuyana’s work, I wanted to do my part to make a contribution to your outstanding program”
The 5 laptop computers will be added to the additional 20 donated by members of the diaspora and will be distributed to the more than 20 Learning Pod centers across Guyana to enable young members to comfortably complete their technology integrated assignments which often requires the use of Scratch software to animate solutions to their Math, English and Science Assignments.
The need for laptop computers by the children at STEMGuyana’s Learning pod centres continues and STEMGuyana’s ambassador, Ms Tyler would like to encourage all members of the Diaspora who have used or new tablets and laptops they wish to donate to send an email to renityler@yahoo.com to arrange pickup or drop-off.
“Members of the Guyana Diaspora have been critical to the success of STEMGuyana’s fledgling 5 year program and we would like to encourage more members of the Diaspora to contribute to the mission of advancing the technology preparation and knowledge of Guyana’s youth”, noted Ms Tyler.
