– Enhancing business competitiveness through standards and virtual training
With the aim of providing opportunities amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS) is collaborating with Delphi Consultancy Limited of Trinidad and Tobago, to offer a number of virtual training sessions to interested persons and businesses, to enhance their competitiveness in the commerce sector through standards.
The training sessions are expected to commence in October and last until December, with the availability of the following courses: Root Cause Analysis, Internal Quality Auditor Course, Risk Based Thinking, Data Analysis, Implementing and Documenting the ISO 9001 Quality Management System and Process Mapping.
The ISO 9001 Quality Management System focuses on the planning and execution in the production, development and service aspects of businesses, to confirm employees receive applicable training in the quality system requirements and essentially, the company’s ability to meet customer requirements.
Syeid Ibrahim, GNBS’ Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, disclosed that necessary adjustments were made at GNBS to ensure the needs of clients are met and to deliver valuable services to local businesses during the pandemic.
“We have taken our training programmes virtually. Guyana’s economic climate is very competitive with the Oil and Gas sector, and everyone is aiming to be part of the supply chain,” Ibrahim stated.
He noted that in keeping with obligatory standards and quality products of the supply chain, GNBS provides technical assistance and training to local companies to keep them in the loop of the requirements of standards.
Over the years, GNBS has been working with several companies in Guyana to get them ISO certification ready.
