First Lady, Arya Ali is on the move to end period poverty through her Menstrual Hygiene Initiative.
This initiative seeks to end period poverty and would be rolled out in phases.
In partnership with the Ministry of education, this initiative would be rolled out in public schools, where sanitary pads would be distributed to girls especially those in far flung communities.
According to First Lady, Arya Ali, “to bring an end to period poverty, we must first put an end to the denial of its existence and begin normalizing conversations around women’s health, particularly those related to menstruation.”
Last Sunday First Lady, hosted a fundraiser which raked in six millions dollars.
According to a press release by the First Lady, “I am grateful to all the donors, and sponsors without whom Sunday’s event would not have been possible.”
